Situated on the southwest coast of Mahi, Le Jardin des Palmes is a rustic retreat from the stress of daily life. The resort is composed of five separate bungalows, each with two junior suites that can be connected. The acajou-wood bungalows are set in a garden, and they're high up on stilts—offering you an excellent view of the sea and the surrounding tropical foliage. Each suite has a king-sized bed and two extra single beds, a sitting room, a full bath with bathtub, and an awesome outdoor shower enclosed by a bamboo screen. All suites have furnished balconies, too.
A five-minute walk takes you to a lovely beach where you can spend the day resting in the sun, swimming, or snorkeling. Back at the resort, you have the option of trying out the pool, playing billiards or table football, or watching a program on the large-screen TV. In addition, Le Jardin des Palmes has an open-deck restaurant serving Creole and international cuisine and a full-service bar. The staff are extremely accommodating, and they're happy to answer any questions or arrange car rental, excursions to nearby islands, or big-game fishing trips.
Le Jardin des Palmes is a lovely place to relax, but its decor could use an update. The facilities are well-kept, but this isn't the best choice if you're looking for a resort with a sophisticated, modern atmosphere. If you're happy to stay in a simple wood bungalow high in the treetops with a nice view of the ocean, Le Jardin des Palmes is a solid choice.
