Built on five acres of beachfront property, Les Villas d'Or has been transformed by its native-Seychellois owners into a paradise of exotic local plants. Set along Cote d'Or Beach on the island of Praslin, this resort has six luxury villas—each with a veranda facing the sea. The villas are exquisitely designed and feature subtle earth tones and gorgeous wood furniture. One- and two-bedroom villas are available, and all have air conditioning, ceiling fans, en suite bathrooms, full kitchens, and satellite TV. There's also a lovely pool for guests to use.
The resort was originally planned to be entirely self-catered, but it now has a small restaurant offering breakfast and dinner. The food at the restaurant is very good, but the menu is limited. If you feel like sampling more local cuisine, world-famous seafood restaurant Café des Arts is a short stroll away, and there are many other restaurants in the area. If you decide to cook in your villa, there are plenty of shops nearby, and you can often buy fruit on the beach.
Sunning, swimming, and snorkeling are fantastic on Cote d'Or Beach, but there's a lot more to do in the area if you feel like exploring. Boat trips to Curieuse Island to visit the turtle-breeding station and to Robinson-Crusoe-Island St. Pierre for snorkeling are especially fun, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site Vallee de Mai is a must see on Praslin. At the end of the day, coming back to Les Villas d'Or to catch a sunset from the comfort of your veranda will be a welcome treat.
